Blake Sorensen Named Head Hockey Coach for Notre Dame
Following his collegiate career as a standout player for St. Norbert College, the Canadian native played professional hockey in Europe.
Notre Dame College Prep has announced the hiring of new Head Hockey Coach Blake Sorensen.
“Notre Dame is thrilled to welcome Blake Sorensen as our new head hockey coach,” said NDCP President Shay Boyle. “Blake has great experience as a player and coach, having played professional hockey and coached two high school teams to state championships. We are excited for Blake to lead our storied hockey program and develop champions on and off the ice.”
Following his collegiate career as a standout player for St. Norbert College (NCAA DIII), the Canadian native played in six seasons of professional hockey in Europe before returning home to North America and joining the coaching ranks. Prior to his college, Blake also played one season of Midget AAA for the York Simcoe Express (Ontario) and two seasons of Tier II Junior Hockey for the Kitchener Dutchmen (Kitchener, Ontario).

Since retiring from play in 2005, Blake has served as Director of Hockey Operations and Varsity Boys Head Coach at the Latin School of Chicago; Assistant Coach for the Chicago Mission, and Assistant Coach for the University of Illinois and Robert Morris University ACHA Division I Club teams. In addition, he runs Power-Skating & Skills Development as an independent contractor. Blake has also coached various Chicago youth hockey programs and the Western Selects Hockey Program (Los Angeles, CA).
Most recently, Blake led Loyola Academy Maroon to the State Championship Title in 2017, Loyola Academy Gold to the State Championship Title in 2018 and Loyola Academy Gold as a State Championship Finalist in 2019.
