Due to COVID-19, his siblings are stuck in Illinois trying to navigate their brother's injuries and the uncertainty of what his future looks like given how badly he has been injured.
"Police work and helping the community is his entire world. Our ultimate goal is to get Joe back home, so we can start to heal from this catastrophic tragedy," the post reads. "Joe was not only critically injured, he lost his brothers in the accident and will carry this with him forever."
Organizers believe there's a good chance Lazo will not be able to go back to active duty.
