Family-Owned Niles Car Dealer Stays Involved With Community

NILES, IL — Star Nissan in Niles, owned by the Berman Auto Group, got its name out of the first letters of family members of CEO Michael Berman – sister Shirley, son Todd, wife Angie and his oldest son Ross. Located at 5757 W. Touhy Ave., Star Nissan has been in business in Niles for more than 23 years.

"We love this town! We have been proud to support the community and hope to be around for another 20+ years," Berman Auto Group told Patch's Small Business Spotlight.

Since 1987, the family-owned business has grown to five dealerships in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana with 300 employees.

"Fifty of those employees have been with us for over a decade. We have one employee who has been with us since we first opened our doors over 30 years ago," the company said.

Star Nissan said it's is committed to staying involved in the Niles community. The dealership supports local food and book drives, animal shelters, sponsors the Niles Park District sports leagues and more.

The biggest challenge?

The automotive industry is ever changing, and over the years we have had to adapt to all the challenges we face. For example, customers on average only visit 1.4 dealerships before purchasing a car. Over the +20 years we continue to strive to provide the best car buying and servicing experience for our customers, and hopefully our reputation is what sets us apart from other dealerships and why customers come to us.
