First winter storm has arrived

The Chicago land area has experienced it's first snowstorm of the year and on Halloween no less.

This Halloween's snowfall was the first measurable since 2014, when there was 0.1 inch recorded.

It's not uncommon for rain, but snow is virtually unheard of on All Hallows' Eve here in Chicago land.

As a matter of fact, it has only snowed seven times on the holiday, so a rarity to be certain.

Children at this reporter's kids' school, Gemini Middle School in Niles are still planning on going trick or treat even in the poor weather.

Driving conditions are slick and it's recommended to slow down and increase following distances in this kind of weather.

Near white out conditions were observed as the falling and blowing snow contributed to an extremely white landscape and skyline.

The Forest Preserve off of Caldwell was a winter wonder land with the combination of fall foliage and snow combining for a stunning display of Mother Natures power and beauty.
