Man With Alzheimer's Found After Going Missing From Niles: Police

Update: The 76-year-old was found by Indiana State Police late Friday.

NILES, IL — Police asked the public for help locating a Chicago senior with dementia reported missing in Niles Friday afternoon.

Patrick Cahill, 76, of the Norwood Park neighborhood, was last seen driving his 2014 gray Honda CRV out of the parking lot of the Costco store at 7220 N. Melvina Ave. shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to police.

Niles police showed up after his wife, unable to find him in the lot, called 911. Officers from Niles and Chicago searched the area and checked the man's home but could not find him or his car.

Cahill was described as 6 feet, 2 inches with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white baseball hat, black jacket, blue shirt, gray pants and gym shoes, according to police.

Police said Cahill reportedly suffers from Alzheimer's disease and experiences memory loss as a result.

UPDATE: Indiana State Police located Cahill safe on Interstate 94 in Chesterton, Indiana, around 11 p.m. Friday, reportedly in good health and spirit, according to Niles police.
