Masked Gunman Robs Gas Station On Dempster: Niles Police
Police said a black-clad man with a handgun robbed the gas station at the corner of Dempster Street and Harlem Avenue Monday evening.

NILES, IL — A masked man with a gun robbed a gas station in Niles Monday, police said. A clerk at the Marathon Gas station at 7145 W. Dempster St. reported at 8:40 p.m. that a man dressed in black had just come into the store, pointed a black handgun at them and demanded cash from the register, according to Niles police.
The robber took the money, shoved it in a bag and fled on foot from the station, which is located at the corner of Dempster Street and Harlem Avenue. The bandit was described as between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet, 4 inches tall with a thin build and dark skin. He was wearing a black stocking cap, a black face mask, a black jacket and dark jeans, according to Cmdr. Robert Tornabene.

Officers arriving on scene searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. It was not known as of Tuesday how much money was stolen, Tornabene said. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the detective bureau of the Niles Police Department at 847-588-6570.
