Memorial Day Remembrance and Flag Ceremony, Sunday, 26 May @12PM
Annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Flag Service Open to All to Remember Our Dead Servicemembers and Remember Their Families

Greetings Neighbors on This Most Solemn of Holiday Weekends...
For Memorial Day this year, we will be holding our annual Remembrance and Flag Ceremony at North Park Village (5800 N. Pulaski) on Sunday, May 26 at 12 PM outside Building H at the Veterans Memorial Flag Pole. Parking is available and you can easily bike or take public transit too. All are welcome with a special invitation extended to Gold Star Families. Veterans of all branches and components, current servicemembers, women, youth, men, families, and everybody else reading this are encouraged to attend.
As a people, Memorial Day, unlike Veterans Day, is our nation's only holiday on which we focus on the military members and their families who have given the ultimate measure of devotion in service to freedom. See the Facebook event and the attached flyer. https://www.facebook.com/event...

For the ceremony, we will play a 21-gun salute as well as taps, and then lower the flag to half-staff before departing. These are ways in which we memorialize our shared collective loss as part of our Memorial Day Remembrance. The names of those women and men who have died this year in service to our country will be read aloud and all will be invited to speak the names of their beloved family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends who are now no longer with us due to their sacrifice whenever that took place.
Finally, if you have US flags that are no longer fit for service, you may bring them with for proper disposal. Likewise, if you have US flags that need folding, we will do that onsite.
