Morton Grove Obituary: Juanita M. Rector, nee Eastwood

Juanita M. Rector, nee Eastwood, age 85, of Morton Grove, IL. Born in Hammond, IN, on July 31, 1932, to Herman and Edna, nee McKinley, Eastwood, and grew up in Griffith, IN. Played guitar, accordion, steel (Hawaiian) guitar, and dobro from a young age. Graduate, Griffith High School, Class of 1950. Taught guitar and accordion lessons in the early 1950s at Guzzardo’s Music, in Rockford, IL, and then at Lyon & Healey, in Chicago, IL, where she met John Rector. Married in 1957, they had one daughter, Karen, born in 1963. A homemaker until Karen grew up, Juanita worked as a secretary in accounts receivable at John Crane, in Morton Grove, until retirement. She collaborated with her husband, John, on guitar “how to” books in the 1960s. Beloved wife of the late John J.; loving mother of Karen; dear sister of Norma (Fausto) Olvera and the late Donald (Cindy) and Harold (the late Roberta) Eastwood; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation, Monday, November 6, 2017, from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service, 11 a.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
