North Branch Trail Alliance of Greater Chicago Award “Advocate of the Year” by the Active Transportation Alliance (ATA)
The North Branch Trail Alliance (NBTA) of Greater Chicago is excited to announce that it was awarded the “Advocate of the Year Award” by the Active Transportation Alliance (ATA), Chicagoland’s leading voice for biking, walking, and transit. Steve Simmons, ATA Trail Advocacy Manager presented the award and said, “We’re grateful to be working closely with NBTA to advance trail networks along the river. Trails strengthen economic development and provide users with lasting cultural experiences. NBTA has made a valuable contribution to trail development by hosting bike rides, partnering on workshops, and joining the Chicago River Trail Coalition.”

Jac Charlier, NBTA President said “For NBTA to receive this recognition of the local economic development work we are doing that’s helping our neighborhood downtowns from Albany Park to Mayfair, Forest Glen to Edgebrook, to Niles, Morton Grove, Glenview and beyond, speaks to the value of moving from mostly seeing bike trails for ‘health and hobby’ to understanding them as real economic drivers for our small businesses.” Charlier said that NBTA is currently seeking businesses as well as Chambers of Commerce interested in becoming NBTA 2018 Business Partners.
The next NBTA ride will be on Saturday, May 19 at 11:30 AM, with the theme “Icons of our Northwest Area.” More about NBTA at www.northbranchtrailalliance.com on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
