Niles Irish Dancers Qualify for World Championships

Niles residents Patrick Holbrook and Kristjan Gudmunsen of the Dillon-Gavin School of Irish Dance qualified for the World Championships.

The Dillon-Gavin School of Irish Dance in Des Plaines is home to several world-qualifying dancers, including two from Niles, the Daily Herald reports.

The school sent several dancers to the North American Irish Dance Championships this year and the following four qualified for Worlds:

  • Ronan Donahue, 13, Park Ridge: Boys U13 National Champion
  • Patrick Holbrook, 12, Niles, Boys U13, 5th place
  • Kristjan Gudmunsen, 12, Niles, Boys U12, 4th place
  • Claudia Morrison, 10, Des Plaines, Girls U11, 11th place 

Niles resident Lindsey Kelly, 19, also competed in the national championships, and placed 33rd in the girls U20 division.

The 2014 World Championships will be held in London next April.
