Niles Office Depot Closing, Liquidation Sale Underway
The closure of the Office Depot at 8331 W. Golf Road is one of 50 announced as part of the company's three-year plan to close 300 locations.

NILES, IL — Office Depot plans to close its Niles location at 8331 W. Golf Road as one 50 stores the company intends to shutter by the end of the year. A liquidation sale has begun at the store at Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue, according to the the Boca Raton, Florida-based company.
The company announced last week that its 2019 first quarter sales were down 2 percent compared to the same quarter in 2018, leading to a decision to shutter two underperforming stores already this year.
"Our first quarter results were disappointing driven primarily by poor performance at our CompuCom division," Gerry Smith, CEO of Office Depot said in a release. "We are taking decisive actions and making numerous improvements in our sales and operational processes to place this business back on-target with its long-term expectations. "
