Niles to Spend at Least $232,475 on Salt for Winter

It may be summertime in Niles, but the village board is already discussing the upcoming winter.

The village plans to spend at least $232,475 on salt for this winter season, the Journal and Topics reports. The money will go toward purchasing 4,250 tons of salt from Detroit Salt Company. Assistant Niles Public Services Director Bob Pilot told the newspaper they village used 4,400 tons of salt last winter.
