Niles Woman Killed In Head-On Crash In Kendall County
Illinois State Police said a Chevy Monte Carlo was headed southbound on Route 47 in the northbound lanes, when it hit a GMC Sierra head-on.
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Illinois State police were called to the site of a fatal crash around 1:40 p.m. Thursday on northbound IL Route 47 just north of Sherrill Road. According to a release from ISP, early investigations show that a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was headed southbound on Route 47 in the northbound lanes, when it hit a 2007 GMC Sierra head-on. Police said the driver of the Chevrolet, 72-year-old Annette Briars, of Niles, was pronounced dead on site by the Kendall County Coroner.
According to police, the driver of the GMC, 44-year-old Shannon Bertram, of Girard, was seriously injured and was airlifted to a hospital in the area.
Police said there were no other passengers traveling with Briars or Girard, and no charges were filed.
