Old Orchard Standoff Ends Peacefully

The man was apparently armed as he left the truck, and was then seen with another man who may have been a negotiator. The two then appeared to be praying together.

Illinois State Police SWAT officers took a man into custody following a standoff on the Edens Expressway, April 29, 2020, in Skokie, IL at approximately 12:30, the standoff ended peacefully.

No word yet on why the man was holed up or if he was in fact the driver of the truck, nor has there been any confirmation if the man was possibly suicidal.

Law enforcement had urged people to avoid the area as roads in the area were blocked off, including southbound lanes of the Edens.

As of approximately 1pm, all lanes were re-opened and traffic was allowed to resume in a normal manner.
