St. John Brebeuf School Celebrates Catholic Schools Week in Style
SJB focused on the value that Catholic education provides to young people as well as to the church, the community and the nation.

Skates, the mascot of the Chicago Wolves Hockey organization, made a guest appearance at St. John Brebeuf School, 8301 N. Harlem Ave., Niles, on Sunday, Jan. 27, as part of Catholic Schools Week. Sponsored by the Holy Name Men’s Club at St. John Brebeuf (SJB), the appearance by Skates was just one of many activities planned to begin the week-long, annual celebration of Catholic education.

The celebration includes Masses, school tours, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and community members. Through these events, St. John Brebeuf will focus on the value that Catholic education provides to young people as well as its contributions to the church, the community and the nation, says Dr. Mary Maloney, SJB Principal.
An annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, Catholic Schools Week began in 1974. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2019, Sunday, Jan. 27, through Saturday, Feb. 2, is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”
