2 New Deaths, 103 Coronavirus Cases In Last Week In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Northbrook has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 104 people have died due to COVID-19 in Northbrook since March 29. That marks two new deaths since Patch's last report on Jan. 21. For further comparison, there were four new deaths between Jan. 14-21. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.

As of Friday, there have been 2,533 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 76 cases since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 103 cases between Jan. 14-21. These numbers indicate an -9.68 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

In addition, 84,630 people have been tested for the coronavirus across zip codes 60026 and 60062, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. That number marks an increase of 3,756 tests since Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase in tests of 3,654 between Jan. 14-21.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 104 deaths are: 80+ (73), 70-79 (17), 60-69 (12), 40-49 (1) and 30-39 (1).

Coronavirus Vaccine Registration Opens For Northbrook Residents

As of Friday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 201,028 confirmed cases and 3,749 deaths since the pandemic began. That marks an increase of 5,321 cases and 92 deaths since Patch's last update on Jan. 21. For further comparison, there was an increase of 6,387 cases and 102 deaths between Jan. 14-21. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 23,212 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,226 deaths. That marks an increase of 513 cases and 50 deaths since Jan. 21. For comparison, there was an increase of 513 cases and 79 deaths between 14-21. In the past, the IDPH has twice temporarily removed some cases and deaths since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

• Northbrook Inn Memory Care — 18 cases, 5 deaths
• North Shore Place — 47 cases, 3 deaths (open)/9 cases, 0 deaths (closed)
• Lake Cook Rehab and Healthcare — 51 cases, 12 deaths (closed)/12 cases, 0 deaths (open)

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
