Baseball Glove Thief At Dick's; Master Bedroom Ransacked: Blotter

An employee at Dick's reported a man was seen on video stealing gloves; jewelry was stolen from residence: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Kazden Orshoski, 19, of the 600 block of Gregg, Northbrook, is accused of having a suspended license, making an improper turn, and was arrested at 7:50 p.m. April 18 at Park and Sunset Ridge. Orshoski was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of May 14.

An employee at Dick's Sporting Goods, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 9:18 p.m. April 15 that a woman was seen entering an employee lounge. A short time later, several employees said that their personal belongings were missing from the area.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Kay Jay Drive resident called police at 11:13 a.m. April 16 to report someone had opened a credit card account using their information without permission.
  • A Sunset Drive resident reported at 2:14 p.m. April 16 that they received correspondence from their bank regarding suspicious activity on their credit card account.
  • A Picardy Circle resident called police on April 20 to report someone opened an internet account with their personal information without their permission.

FRAUD

A Tudor Lane resident reported at 12:35 p.m. April 16 someone attempted to cash two checks from their checking account under the same number. The complainant had issued the original check number in question several weeks ago.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD

A resident of the 2700 block of Kingston Road called police at 2:16 p.m. April 16 to report they had received several packages that they did not order. The complainant checked their credit card statements and found that several unauthorized charges had been placed.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • A Sunset Lane resident reported at 2:25 p.m. April 16 receiving correspondence from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services that their information had been disclosed in a data breach.
  • A resident in the 2700 block of Woodland Drive reported at 9:15 a.m. April 21 that a black-colored SUV pulled into their driveway and an unknown man wearing a hat and mask came to the front door. The complainant said that the man stated that there was work that needed to be done in the backyard. The resident said that the door was closed and the man left the area.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 2500 block of Cobblewood Drive reported at 4:30 p.m. April 16 that someone came to their residence claiming that they were working on a neighbor’s water pipes and that they needed to check the complainant’s water pipes in the basement for damage. Complainant stated that they escorted the person to the basement for approximately 15 minutes. During this time, another family member was in an upstairs bedroom when a second unknown male unexpectedly entered their room. Both men left the residence shortly after this. Complainant then checked the rest of the residence and noticed that their master bedroom was ransacked and that several pieces of jewelry were missing.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A resident in the 3100 block of River Falls called police at 7:38 p.m. April 16 to report they had a vehicle shipped from out of state, and when it arrived at their residence, there were numerous items missing from within the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident in the 2500 block of Peachtree Lane reported that between 10:30 and 11 p.m. April 16 that someone damaged their mailbox.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

An officer on routine patrol of Western and Center avenues found graffiti on a utility box a 1:43 p.m. April 17.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A Brian Drive resident reported that between 12:30-12:40 p.m. April 17 they had received several text messages from a known person regarding the invoicing for snow removal services.

HARASSING TELEPHONE CALLS

A Pheasant Creek resident called police at 6:27 p.m. April 20 to report they have received multiple telephone calls from an unknown person who leaves unwelcomed voicemail messages.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of Dick's Sporting Goods, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported that between 12:37-12:47 p.m. April 20 they saw someone cut security cables in the baseball equipment area of the store. The complainant reviewed security footage which showed a man appearing to cut the security cables for six baseball gloves. The man was seen placing the gloves in an equipment bag then leaving the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee at Nieman Marcus, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 6:49 p.m. April 21 that two men entered the store, concealed unknown merchandise under their clothes and left the store without paying for the items.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC MEANS

A Skokie Boulevard resident reported at 4:49 p.m. April 21 that they had been receiving unusual emails from a known person whom they had not spoken to in several years.
