Baseball Gloves Stolen From Dick's; Missing Car Found: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

RECOVERED VEHICLE

Eric Collins, 31, of the 7000 block of S Racine Avenue, Chicago, is accused of improper lane usage, no front registration plate, no valid driver's license, uninsured motor vehicle, criminal trespass to motor vehicle, and was arrested at 1:46 a.m. June 3 after it was discovered his car had been reported stolen from Chicago, at Willow and Princeton. His bond was set at $1,500 and he was assigned a court date of June 22.

Police responded at 10:29 a.m. June 4 to the area of the 2900 block of Maria Avenue to assist the fire department regarding a person with an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fire paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Read more here.

VANDALISM

A person reported that between June 5 and June 7 someone gained access to the roof at the Northbrook Sports Complex 1700 block of Pfingsten Road, and were able to release the contents of two fire extinguishers and one spray foam insulation tool.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee at Shabonee Elementary School, 1000 block of Pfingsten, reported at 12:31 p.m. June 8 that someone cut a chain that was holding a safety sign hanging on a barricade.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Dick's Sporting Goods, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 2:30 p.m. June 6 to report that they were alerted by a fellow employee that several baseball gloves appeared to be missing from a display. Complainant checked surveillance video and observed two females take multiple gloves from a display and place them in their handbags and under their shirts.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
  • An officer on patrol found what appeared to be new graffit on the gazebo at 7:10 p.m. June 4 at Village Green Park, 1800 block of Walters.
  • An officer on patrol at 11:58 p.m. June 9 discovered new graffiti in the skate park at Techny Prairie Park, 1700 block of Techny Road.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A person called police at 7:36 p.m. June 4 to report someone entered their unlocked parked vehicle in the 1900 block of Western. The wallet contained money, credit cards and identification cards.
