Bears Tight End Buys Northbrook New Construction: Report
Trey Burton purchased a recently completed house in Northbrook for under $1.7 million shortly after he signed an $8 million-a-year contract.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Chicago Bears player Trey Burton and his wife Yesenia purchased a newly built home in Northbrook earlier this year for less than $1.7 million, shortly after he signed a $8 million-a-year contract to become one of the best paid tight ends in the NFL, the Chicago Tribune reported. The two-story brick design with 3,657 square feet of aboveground living space sits on a 0.25-acre lot west of Shermer Avenue.
The Farnsworth Lane home, one of two built by the same developer, has oak hardwood floors, a family room with a prefabricated fireplace, a three-car heated garage, a standby generator and "extensive ornamentation, moldings, crowns, trims, stones, tile designs," according to its builder.
The house was also built wired for a "smart home" automation system with integrated home audio and security installed. There's a custom kitchen with quartz countertops and under-cabinet lighting, Bosch, Thermador and SubZero appliances, and a fully finished carpeted basement with a full bath and bedroom.

Burton, 27, played college football for the University of Florida Gators as a quarterback, fullback, wide receiver and tight end. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and was named to the NFL's All Rookie team that year. In February's Super Bowl, he completed a touchdown pass to close the first half as the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots.
The Bears signed Burton to a $32 million contract in March through the 2021 season. The $8 million average annual pay puts him as the No. 8 top-paid player in his position in the league.

The Burtons' new home was purchased in April by SCG Investment Holdings, a Florida-based limited liability company managed by Mrs. Burton, who said her husband did not technically own the home.
"It's all a lie, what you're saying," she said. "It's not Trey Burton's house."
The property's estimated 2018 market value is just $795,900 for taxing purposes, according to the Cook County Assessor's office.

The previous property on the site was sold by Timothy Brankey in August 2016 for $385,000 and subsequently demolished by the developer, Januscz Konsor of Konsor Enterprises.
Konsor listed the new construction in March 2018 and the Burtons placed an offer within the month, closing at $1,365,000 on April 24. Agents for the buyers declined to comment on the purchase to the Chicago Tribune's Elite Street column, which first reported the sale.
