Brick Through Windshield; Break-In At Plumbing Company: Blotter

A motorist discovered a red brick had been thrown through their windshield; a plumbing company was broken into: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY

An employee at Bill's Plumbing, 1800 block of Holste Road, reported at 6:15 a.m. May 7 that when they arrived for work they discovered that their office had been ransacked by someone and money was discovered missing. Several work vehicles were also entered and various tools were taken.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE

  • A person called police at 6:31 p.m. May 7 to report that while sitting in their parked car at Old Navy, 40 block of Skokie Boulevard, they heard a loud sound and then noticed that an object struck their vehicle's windshield. The object appeared to be a red brick and caused the windshield to crack. The complainant did not see where the object came from.
  • A person reported at 8:24 p.m. May 7 that while driving in the area of Jul-Lyn Lane and Walters Avenue, another vehicle drove into their lane, causing the complainant to have to apply their brakes. The driver of this other vehicle exited their car when stopped and yelled at the complainant. They also kicked the driver’s side door, causing a dent.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • A Butternut Lane resident called police at 2:43 p.m. May 10 to report they received a telephone message from someone claiming to work in law enforcement and for them to call back a number immediately. The complainant stated that they called police instead of the number given. An officer recommended the complainant block the number and told them this was most likely a scam caller.
  • A resident of the 2800 block of Crabtree Lane reported at noon May 10 that someone removed a gutter downspout extension from the side of their residence.
  • A resident of the 2800 block of Maria Avenue called police at 11:10 a.m. May 12 to report that they saw a home under renovation with the garage door open and a vehicle in the driveway. Officer responded and found the door closed, but the vehicle in the driveway. No criminal activity appeared to be occurring at that time.

SUSPICIOUS TELEPHONE CALL

A Mayapple Lane resident called police at 10:20 a.m. May 11 to report they received a telephone call from someone claiming to be their son and that he was involved in an accident. The caller informed the complainant that they needed $12,000 sent to them. Complainant verified that their son was not involved in an accident and did not send the requested funds to the caller.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Keystone Road resident reported at 2:43 p.m. May 11 that they were notified by a credit reporting agency that their information was possibly used without their permission fraudulently.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Neiman Marcus, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, called police at 12:14 p.m. May 12 to report four males removed clothing from racks then left the store without paying for the items. The quartet then entered a vehicle and left the area.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES

An employee at Northbrook Toyota, 1500 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 3:20 p.m. May 12 catalytic converters were taken from several vehicles by someone.
