Boy, 4, Drowns In Northbrook Retention Pond
The incident happened at around 7 p.m. Monday in a Mission Hills condo complex.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A 4-year-old boy drowned in a retention pond Monday night in a Mission Hills condo complex. The Cook County Sheriff's Office told Patch an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The boy's name, Tengis Burenkhuu, was released Tuesday morning by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He lived in the 1700 block of Mission Hills. The cause of death was an accidental drowning.
The boy was found unresponsive in the pond, located in the 1600 block of Provenance Way, at around 7 p.m. The Northbrook Fire Department responded to the scene, and the child was taken to Glenbrook Hospital.

Northbrook Police Chief Christopher Kennedy, who called the incident "tragic," told Patch that the investigation into what happened is being conducted by the sheriff's office since it occurred in an unincorporated area.
WGN is reporting a neighbor found the child in the water and a nurse performed life-saving measures on him before he was rushed to the hospital.

"This tragedy is every parent’s worst nightmare," CCSO said. "On behalf of Sheriff Dart, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this young boy."
