Linforth Presents At Celebration Of Undergrad Research, Creative Inquiry

Jack Linforth, of Northbrook, is one of approximately 140 Central College students who presented academic research at the college's first annual Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry Wednesday, April 28. Presentations can be found here. Linforth's presentation(s) was titled The Effect of Sleep on Reaction Times.

University of Mississippi Celebrates Class of 2021's Emma Litch

Emma Beatrice Litch, of Northbrook, is among the more than 5,000 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2021 who will be celebrated during the university's 168th Commencement exercises April 29 - May 2. Litch, who is a Psychology major, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Liberal Arts.

GBN Alum Awarded Scholarship To Study Arabic Virtually In Oman

Ayla Kaufman, of Northbrook, a freshman at the University of Michigan, has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic virtually in Oman this summer. The CLS program is a United States Department of State Cultural and Educational exchange program which funds intensive language study abroad programs for 15 critically needed languages as part of the National Security Language Initiative. Less than 10 percent of applicants are chosen from roughly 5,000 applicants, and it is considered the most prestigious language program for U.S. citizens.

James Testa IV Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

James Testa IV, of Northbrook, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Testa was initiated at Rochester Institute of Technology. Testa is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Inducts New Members

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
  • Sophia Norberg, of Northbrook, at University of Louisville
  • Leah Matlin, of Northbrook, at Illinois Wesleyan University

They are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
