College Credits: Northbrook's Kostoglanis Makes Dean's List

Loyola Academy Graduate Kostoglanis Earns Dean's Award At Colgate

Sydney Kostoglanis, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2023, has earned the fall 2020 Dean's Award with Distinction. Kostoglanis is a Psychology major from Northbrook and is a graduate of Loyola Academy. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses during the fall 2020 semester earn the Dean's Award with Distinction.

Ocasek Named Great Lakes All-Region Honoree For Track

Michael Ocasek, of Northbrook, of the DePauw Men's Indoor Track & Field team received All-Region honors for the 2021 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season, which were announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. A total of 1,152 honors were awarded on 92 different institutions, with 579 honors on the men's side and another 573 for women's teams. To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their respective region on the final TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region's top-3 relay team was also selected for distinction.
Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for the award. Ocasek was honored as a Great Lakes All-Region athlete for his performance in the 800-meter run. This season he ran the 800-meter run in 1:55.54, earning first-place in a triangular against Centre and St. Mary of the Woods.

Local Students Make Illinois Wesleyan University's Fall 2020 Dean's List

• Ellen Gilbert, of Northbrook, a junior majoring in Psychology
• Leah Matlin, of Northbrook, a sophomore majoring in psychology

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a GPA of 3.50 or better during the semester, based on 4.0 for straight A's.

Dembo Earns PhD From Brandeis University

Robert Dembo, of Northbrook, recently became a PhD in social policy from Brandeis University. He has also earned master's degrees from Indiana University and Brandeis. He is currently doing a Post Doctorate fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. His bachelor's degree is from the University of Michigan.
