In addition to serving great deli-style food, Max and Benny's is now serving something funny, with The Comedy Nosh, a monthly, live, stand-up comedy, dinner-and-a-show event. Each night features a full dinner from a special, limited menu, drinks, dessert and comedy performed by professional stand-up comedians from the Chicago area and throughout the region.
While the space and food is provided by the venue, the comedy show is booked and produced by Highland Park based comedians, Ricky March of Best Corporate Comedy (www.bestcorporatecomedy.com), and Larry Bloom of Funnier By The Lake Comedy (www.funnierbythelake.com). March and Bloom partnered up and created Serve Something Funny (www.servesomethingfunny.com), to offer dinner-and-a-show nights to restaurants and clubs.
The success of the first show was encouragement enough to decide to make comedy a regular offering.
"I've been working hard over the past several years, to bring live comedy to the north shore, producing a couple of shows each month, in the suburbs." says Bloom. "Ricky (March) came to me last year with the idea that became Serve Something Funny."
Bloom has a long-standing relationship with Max and Benny's, as the leader of Breakfast of Champions Networking (www.boc-networking.com), a business group that met each month in the private room of the restaurant for many years. He approached Max and Benny's President, Ben Schlan with the dinner-and-a-show concept, and they decided to give it a shot. The success of the first show was encouragement enough to decide to make comedy a regular offering.
The June Comedy Nosh includes comedy from a lineup of professional comedians, including:
- Ricky March | Best Corporate Comedy

- Amanda Cohen | Nationally Touring Comedian
