Curler From Northbrook to Compete in Scotland Tour

Julie Denten is one of just 20 United States women selected to compete this year.

NORTHBROOK, IL - A Northbrook woman was one of 20 members of the United States Women's Curling Association to be selected to be part of the 2016 USWCA Scot Tour in Scotland later this fall.

Julie Denten, president of the Heathers - the women's organization at the Chicago Curling Club in Northbrook - will be one of just four women representing the United States during the tour that begins in Glasgow, Scotland on Nov. 5.

Every ten years, twenty members of the USWCA are selected to compete in the tour. They are then divided into five teams of four. Denten will be on a team with Vietta Kampen of Portage, Wisc., Sandy Bromenschenkel of Itasca, Minn. and Nancy Drischlet of Albany, N.Y.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this once in a lifetime experience, and am looking forward to representing the U.S. and the USWCA," said Denten. "Traveling and curling in Scotland, where the sport began, has always been a dream of mine. (I) can't wait to see what this adventure brings.”

The tour will feature five United States women's curling teams which will compete against Scurlers from Scotland's Royal Caledonian Curling Club. Denten will compete in 20 different curling clubs throughout Scotland.
