A woman in her 50s is accused of taking jewelry and other items from two Northbrook stores without paying for the items within 25 minutes.

DUI

  • Peter Kim, 48, 2200 block of Prince Street, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol after he was pulled over by police at 12:14 a.m. on May 4. Kim is also accused of speeding and improper lane change. He was released after paying $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 21.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A person reported that two suspects removed shopping carts full of various merchandise from a business located in the 30 block of Skokie Boulevard just after 3 p.m. on May 1 and left the shop without paying before they left in a vehicle.
  • The complainant said they saw a female in her 50s take jewelry items and remove them from their packaging and then hide them in her clothing at the TJ Maxx in the 40 block of Skokie Boulevard at 10 a.m. on May 6. The woman was then seen leaving the store without paying for the items.
  • The complainant said they saw a female in her 50s take then hide them in her clothing at the Marshall’s in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard at 10:25 a.m. on May 6. The woman was then seen leaving the store without paying for the items.

BURGLARY TO A VEHICLE

  • A person reported that an unknown person or persons entered their unlocked vehicle and went through their glove compartment and center console in the 3800 block of Brittany at 2:40 a.m. on May 3. Nothing appeared to be missing.
  • A person reported that an unknown person or persons removed license plates from inside their vehicle in the 2900 block of Acorn Lane at 2:30 p.m. on May 3. The person said that they had not seen the license plates since early 2020 and did not know when they were taken.
  • A person said that her purse and other personal items were taken out of her unlocked vehicle between 3-3:45 p.m. on May 5 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard.

TRESPASS TO A VEHICLE

  • A person reported that an unknown person or persons entered their unlocked vehicle and went through their belongings in the 600 block of Michelline at 3:14 a.m. on May 3. Nothing appeared to be missing.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

  • A person observed graffiti on a gazebo in the 1800 block of Walters at Village Green Park at 1:40 p.m. on May 3.

SUSPICOUS PERSON

A person said that another person attempted to purchase alcohol without an identification and was denied at the Trader Joe’s in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard at 7:40 p.m. on May 4. The person then attempted to try to buy alcohol again and was again denied the sale and left the area.

FRAUD

  • A person said that an unknown person or persons opened an account using their information without their permission in the 3200 block of Doolittle Drive at 10:55 a.m. on May 5.
  • A person told police that a customer had purchased a vehicle over the phone using two credit cards and then took delivery of the vehicle and moved out of state and then disputed the charges. The complainant, Ride Shack, Inc., in the 3100 block of Commercial, said the funds from the sale were then removed from their account.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • A person said that an unknown person or persons used their information at an auto dealership without their permission at 1:46 p.m. in the 2200 block of Oak Ave. on May 5 and that they are now receiving unwanted calls from the dealership.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A person said that they had been the victim of the phishing scam over the telephone in the 1200 block of Wendy Drive at 8:21 p.m. on May 4. The person said that they provided some of their personal information to the caller.

THEFT

  • A person said that several credit cards had been taken out of her person by an unknown male, who then attempted to use the credit cards at various locations between 6:30 and 11:30 a.m. on May 6.
