Dundee Road Construction Closures Set To Begin
Lane closures begin Monday, with Dundee Road expected to be closed to through traffic starting in April, IDOT and the village announced.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Daily lane closures are due to begun next week on Dundee Road with full closures expected to take place later this spring, according to village staff and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
As part of the advance project for an intersection replacement and culvert replacement at Dundee and Lee roads, temporary daytime lane closures are needed on Dundee, Lee and Shermer roads, according to IDOT. Village staff anticipates the lane closures will begin the week of Monday, Feb. 25, and continue through about April.
UPDATE: Weather permitting, lane closures are due to begin Thursday, according to an IDOT spokesperson.

Once preparations, such as clearing trees, are complete, Dundee Road will be closed to through traffic between Waukegan Road and Skokie Boulevard. A further announcement is planned prior to the start of the larger project.
IDOT planned to distribute notices of the upcoming work to properties north of Dundee Road off Lee Road, and the agency's contractor has put up informational signs in the area, staff said. The village recommended the following detour:

In addition to replacing the existing culvert at the intersection of Dundee and Lee roads, the south leg of Lee Road will be rebuilt and a bike path and retaining wall will be built on the southeast corner of the intersection, according to IDOT.
To avoid any conflicts from the road work, the village's 24-inch cast iron water distribution main and a portion of the 15-inch sanitary sewer on the north side of Dundee Road as well as its 12-inch water main on the west side of Lee Road must be relocated, according to village staff.
The tentative completion date for the $6.5 million project is Oct. 31, 2019. The village is covering $1.6 million of the cost through bonds, according to the project website.
IDOT asked drivers to allow extra time for trips through the area, be on alert for worker, equipment and signs and play close attention to flaggers.
