NORTHBROOK, IL — Intermittent closures of Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook are planned Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., a contractor for the Illinois Tollway will conduct three phases of overnight lane and full closures in order to replace beams on the Edens Spur overpass above Skokie Boulevard, according to village officials.

The first phase, starting at 7 p.m., will see Skokie Boulevard narrowed to one lane in both directions. At 9 p.m., it will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers directing traffic. Full closures of the street will start at 11:30 p.m. and may last up to 20 minutes at a time.

The full closures will cease by 3 a.m. and all work is expected to be finished by 5 a.m., according to a statement from village staff. Motorists were asked to exercise caution in construction zones and find an alternate route during the closures.
