Flooding Closes Lake Cook Road In Northbrook
Heavy rains left rivers above flood levels and closed roads along the North Shore Monday.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Flooding from heavy rains closed Lake Cook Road in front of Northbrook Court Monday in Northbrook. Detours were put in place after water began rising over the banks of the Middle Fork of the Chicago River late in the morning. Traffic in the area was expected to continue be rerouted through the shopping center through midday Tuesday, according to the village.
A flood warning was lifted for northern Cook County Monday, but a hazardous weather outlook and flood advisory remains in place for the Des Plaines River and the North Branch of the Chicago River. The National Weather Service predicted an elevated risk of thunderstorms and flooding Wednesday, with a chance of periodic thunderstorms through much of the week until a cold front arrives in the area late in the weekend.
Drivers who find themselves approaching a flooded roadway were encouraged to find an alternate route to avoid getting stranded.
