NORTHBROOK, IL — Whether it's through their personalities, looks, hobbies, or a combination of everything, children become a reflection of the woman who raised them.

With Mother's Day 2021 right around the corner, we are celebrating that special bond by inviting Patch readers across the state to share their mother-daughter and mother-son photos. Happy Mother's Day!

Why she is special: Contrary to popular opinion, it's not every daughter's worst nightmare that she'll turn into her mother. For me, it's my life's ambition. "WWJD?" I ask myself on a daily basis. "What Would Judy Do?" Physically, I've always been my mother's daughter. People often ask if we're sisters or, even better, twins. When it comes to personality, though, we're as different as bowling pins and rolling pins. Mom's a medley of M'Lynn from Steel Magnolias, Joyce from Guilt Trip, and Prudy from Hairspray, having inspired plentiful proclamations of "Mama, I'm a big girl now." Thanks to her exquisite example of audacity and loquacity, gutsiness and…well, klutziness, I cobbled together the confidence to act on my dream of acting. In fact, she did such a bang-up job that I landed a role that required me to be anything but shy and self-conscious; to, in effect, and turn into my mother: Lucy Ricardo in a parody of I Love Lucy. Is it any wonder that I had mother "loads" of fun during the show's run?

Message: That being said and my all-time favorite role is and always will be the one I was born to play: Judy's daughter. It's a part I will perpetually portray with justifiable jubilance and gargantuan gratitude.
