Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Spaniak: I grew up in Northbrook. I attended Greenbriar school, Northbrook Junior High and graduated from Glenbrook North in 1989. After graduating from college and starting my family, I moved back to Northbrook where I've been active in the community, our church and my children's schools. I have lived in Northbrook all my life and have probably been in over 3,000 homes in Northbrook. I've seen pretty much all of them!

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Spaniak: Formerly, I owned a graphic design and marketing firm in Chicago. I loved marketing products and services for our clients. This seemed like a natural transition— to market my clients' homes!

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Spaniak: Honest. Authentic. Passionate. Always learning.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Spaniak: My job is always hardest when I have a seller that is financially in trouble. I feel honored that someone has brought me into their personal space and their life and shares very personal details with me. I know that they might not have anyone else to turn to to find out the answers in an objective and honest way. I take my job very seriously when I am consulting someone on how they should get their house sold when they are in financial trouble.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Spaniak: Knowing that I have made a difference in someone's life beyond just finding or selling a home. I have helped them take the next step in their lives.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Spaniak: Our customers are tired of being lied to, steered down the wrong path or given advice that is inaccurate. They are exhausted of being "sold" by a real estate professional with little experience. They don’t have time to be involved in the day-to-day operations of selling a home.
They want an honest opinion about how to sell their home, and they want an honest assessment of the price of their home. They have found too many agents that are not working full-time and have overextended themselves by taking on too much business, and they don’t communicate enough with their clients.

We are a full-service team that goes beyond the part-time agent or the successful overworked agent. We provide you a professional service that you would expect from your financial provider, your accountant and your doctor.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Spaniak: Hire the right people. You are the culmination of the five people that you surround yourself with. It's important to make sure those five people are better than me!

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Spaniak: I am putting together a monthly 12-page newspaper sent to every home in Northbrook. It's a big project, but it's going to be very local. I will have articles and information directly from community members. In addition, it's going to have all the homes sold in Northbrook in each issue. I am looking for contributors and advertisers. This has been a project that I've wanted to complete for a long time.

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Spaniak: We always are a sponsor at the St. Norbert Block Party. This is a great family event during the day and awesome music in the evening. This year, it will take place on June 8 at St. Norbert Church in downtown Northbrook.
