Jason Kipnis Breaks Up Jake Arrieta’s No-Hitter

Northbrook's favorite baseball player spoils historic moment for Cubs pitcher.

CLEVELAND, OH - Jake Arrieta’s flirtation with the history books and a possible second World Series no-hitter of all-time was undone in the sixth inning Wednesday night by Northbrook’s own Jason Kipnis.

Kipnis hit a double to break up the no-no and accounted for the Cleveland Indians’ only run of the game.

The Cubs won 5-1 and will head back to Wrigley Field tied with the Indians, 1-1.

Fans from Northbrook must have been a bit conflicted on what to think of Kipnis breaking up the possible historic outing. But fans of Northbrook Patch on Facebook didn’t mind seeing their hometown hero spoil the encounter as long as the Cubs still won.

“I’m loving it all,” said Renee E. Etienne. “Cheering for the Cubs and for Jason.”

Lisa Miller Raju had a similar stance.

“Cheering for the Cubs, but love to see Kipnis do well!”

Kipnis and the Indians will take on the Cubs in Game 3 on Friday at Wrigley Field. Game time is 6:3o p.m.
