Letter: The End Of Northbrook As We Know It
"Stop this insanity," says letter opposing re-zoning for an assisted living facility near Glenbrook North at Techny and Shermer roads.

The Northbrook Plan Commission is currently considering a proposal by Heritage Woods to rezone four single-family houses to construct a high-density Senior Assisted Living complex. Huh??? What are they thinking?
These homes are on Techny and Shermer, just doors away from Maple and GBN. Anyone who has kids at either school knows what a logistical nightmare it is during morning and afternoon commutes. Now they want to add a massive compound that will bring numerous additional ambulances, fire and other service trucks to that same area? What possible reason could be important enough to endanger our kids with this additional traffic?

Additionally, once the Plan Commission is allowed to start “spot zoning” residential areas, what’s to stop them from doing it all over town? Does this mean every Northbrook resident has to worry about what’s going to happen on their block?
When does this end? It doesn’t. Contentious zoning battles are popping up all over Northbrook with increasing regularity.

Northbrook is a great place to live and raise our families. Let’s pull together as a community and stop this insanity before there is no more Northbrook as we know it.
Come to the Tuesday, August 15th Plan Commission meeting.
Save Northbrook while we still can.
