Library Reopens Feb. 22 With Limited Services In Northbrook
To help maintain physical distancing, the library will allow 50 patrons in the building at a time as part of Phase 4.

NORTHBROOK, IL — It was supposed to happen in January, but a high number of staff members at the time were in quarantine due to coronavirus restrictions and the Northbrook Public Library was unable to reopen. Fast-forward to Feb. 22 when plans are moving forward to finally reopen the facility with limited services.
To help maintain physical distancing, the library will only be allowing 50 patrons to be in the building at a time. Visits will also be limited to one hour or less. If the building is at capacity, according to a release, there may be a wait to enter. Everyone ages 2 and up must wear a mask while in the building.
New hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Hours are subject to change.

Last month, the library planned to offer "grab and go" services on Jan. 19, but were forced to cancel the opening due to the rise in staff cases and wait until they could "ensure that we are in a stable position and will not have to close due to staffing constraints." Now, with Suburban Cook County having moved into Phase 4 of the state's coronavirus plan earlier this month, the reopening plan is moving forward.

Library-goers will be able to browse and check out materials, pick up holds, use computers, the study room, and the Collaboratory by appointment. The Internet station on the 2nd floor will also be available for quick printing and look-ups (15-minute time limit; no appointment needed).
The lobby is currently being renovated and the Circulation Department is not currently accessible, according to the release.
