Library Will Not Reopen Due To High Number Of Staff In Quarantine

The Northbrook Library had planned to reopen to the public on Jan. 19 for "grab and go" services.

For the time being, the library said it will continue to look for ways to expand its services to provide resources to the community while the building is closed during this "challenging time."

NORTHBROOK, IL — Plans to reopen the Northbrook Public Library to the public next week are now on hold due to a high number of staff members being in quarantine due to coronavirus restrictions. The library made the announcement Friday, stating it is waiting to reopen the building to the public when it can "ensure that we are in a stable position and will not have to close due to staffing constraints."

The library was set to offer "grab and go" services o Jan. 19, according to a release.

"To continue to provide our current level of service we have had to reallocate staff to assist with providing our core services, which would not be possible if we reopened at this time," the release said.
