Missing Person: Possible Break In 1982 Northbrook Cold Case

NORTHBROOK, IL — Police are investigating a lead relating to a missing person cold case from the winter of 1982 in Northbrook. The new information is connected to the case of Linda H. Seymour, who disappeared without a trace 39 years ago.

Seymour, who was 35 at the time she went missing, was last seen at around 2 p.m. Dec. 21, 1982 in Northbrook, according to The Charley Project. She has never been seen or heard from again. Few details have ever been available in her case.

The Northbrook Police Department and North Regional Major Crimes Task Force conducted a dig Tuesday morning for the possibility of human remains in the 1400 block of Orchard Lane, as reported by NorthShore Updates.

The dig continued Wednesday as Northbrook police said they are continuing to work "in a meticulous and methodical fashion and have excavated to a depth of no more than one foot at this time."

The Northbrook Police Department said it will provide further updates when information is available.

Seymour is listed as a previous homeowner of the property at the time of her disappearance. Her husband, James Seymour Sr., lived at the home until his death in 2009, according to public records. A son of the missing woman currently lives in the home.

Northbrook police said there is no active threat to the community.
