New Coronavirus Cases Continue 3-Week Slide In Northbrook

There have been 2,572 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Northbrook has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 106 people have died due to COVID-19 in Northbrook since March 29, 2020. That marks two new deaths since Patch's last report on Jan. 28. For further comparison, there were also two new deaths between Jan. 21-28. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.

As of Thursday, there have been 2,572 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 39 cases since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 76 new cases between Jan. 21-28 and 103 new cases between Jan. 14-21. These numbers indicate an -40.5 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

In addition, 86,182 people have been tested for the coronavirus across zip codes 60026 and 60062, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. That number marks an increase of 1,552 tests since Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase in tests of 3,756 between Jan. 21-28.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 106 deaths are: 80+ (73), 70-79 (18), 60-69 (13), 40-49 (1) and 30-39 (1).


Northbrook Returns To Phase 4 Of Restore Illinois: What's New?


As of Thursday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 204,270 confirmed cases and 3,804 deaths since the pandemic began. That marks an increase of 3,242 cases and 55 deaths since Patch's last update on Jan. 28. For further comparison, there was an increase of 5,321 cases and 92 deaths between Jan. 21-28. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 23,127 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,246 deaths. That marks a decrease of 85 cases from what Patch had reported on Jan. 28. In the past, the IDPH has twice temporarily removed some cases and deaths since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date. The number of deaths in these facilities increased by 20 since our last report. For comparison, there was an increase of 513 cases and 50 deaths between Jan. 21-28.

  • Lake Cook Rehab and Healthcare — 51 cases, 12 deaths (closed)/12 cases, 0 deaths (open)

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
