New Trier Kicks Off Wellness Week with Trevian Trot

The community is invited to participate in New Trier High School's 5K Trevian Trot this Sunday.

New Trier High School invites community members, parents, and students to sign up for the 5K Trevian Trot on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Northfield Campus stadium at 7 Happ Road.

The run/walk kicks off Wellness Week at New Trier, a week of events encouraging students and staff to make healthy choices in nutrition, exercise, and managing stress.

New Trier began its annual 5K run in 2001 and in 2003 renamed it the Run to Remember in memory of three New Trier graduates -- Sam Farmer, Shea Fitzgerald and Julie Sorkin, who died in a Chicago porch collapse that year.

Starting in 2013, runners also have honored the memory of former Northfield Campus Principal Jan Borja, who died in 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Borja had been an avid supporter and participant in the run since its inception.

Details about the run/walk, including online registration and dates and times for in-person registration, can be found at http://www.newtrier.k12.il.us/TrevianTrot. Registration in advance is $15 for adults and $10 for students; race day registration is $20 for adults and $15 for students. Participants receive a T-shirt, and all proceeds go to scholarship funds and charities.
