New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Double In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Northbrook has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 113 people have died due to COVID-19 in Northbrook since March 29, 2020. The last reported death was on March 13. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, of 2020.

As of Monday, there have been 2,900 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 73 cases since March 19. For comparison, there was an increase of 30 new cases between March 12-19 and 55 new cases between March 5-12.

In addition, 106,195 people have been tested for the coronavirus across zip codes 60026 and 60062, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. That number marks an increase of 4,107 tests since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase in tests of 3,028 between March 12-19.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 113 deaths are: 80+ (78), 70-79 (18), 60-69 (14), 50-59 (1), 40-49 (1) and 30-39 (1).

As of Monday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 222,251 confirmed cases and 4,098 deaths since the pandemic began. That marks an increase of 4,498 cases and 35 deaths since Patch's last update on March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,838 cases and 16 deaths between March 12-19. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 24,194 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,387 deaths. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

• Lake Cook Rehab and Healthcare — 51 cases, 12 deaths (closed)/12 cases, 0 deaths (open)

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
