The North Suburban YMCA recently completed a very successful youth progressive gymnastics season. The team competed in five local meets and finished the season, at the end of April, at the AAU State Meet in Rockford, IL.

“The North Suburban YMCA is proud of the 2019 Gymnastics Team and their accomplishments, which include winning the First Place Team Award for Level 3 at their final meet before the State Meet,” commented Head Gymnastics Coach Dawn Irelan.

Several of the gymnasts also won individual awards at each of the meets this year. Sara Abazovic, Ellen Hurley, Cecelia Lombard and Kristin Zick showed fantastic progress in their first year competing Level 3 for the NSYMCA. Other Level 3 gymnasts Amanda Fielding, Taylor Goodwin, Caitlin Sheedy and Jolie Strelzin continued to compete strongly and increase their scores with each meet.

Level 4 gymnasts Amanda Altangerel and Anna Vierimaa had a solid season. Level 4 gymnast Ella Quinlan had a successful beginning to her season, but sadly suffered an injury that kept her from competing in the final three meets.

The Y will host a summer Gymnastics Camp from June 10 - August 5, 2019. For more information about the Y’s gymnastics program, or to register for the summer camp, go to www.nsymca.org.
