Northbrook Caucus Operating Virtually & Accepting Applications
Open Positions on All Northbrook Boards, Caucus Submission Deadline: October 5th

The Northbrook Caucus, working to engage the community virtually to fill leadership roles, is accepting applications from individuals interested in seeking endorsement for election to various village boards listed below.
The Caucus is a non-partisan, volunteer organization made up of Northbrook residents that for more than 65 years has recruited, interviewed, and endorsed candidates for election to municipal office. Without the work of the Caucus promoting civic engagement and participation, elected offices in Northbrook may be uncontested or unfilled.
The Caucus Steering Committee has been meeting for several months and is prepared to fulfill its mission in a virtual environment that is safe, secure, and fair. The offices for which the Caucus is seeking candidates are the following:

Caucus Subcommittees for each of the governing bodies, made up of community volunteers, will interview candidates in October. All of the Caucus Subcommittee members, collectively known as the Committee of the Whole, will meet on November 8, 2020 to present their recommended candidates for endorsement. All candidates who submitted an application and sat for an interview are invited to speak, and all residents are invited to attend. The Committee of the Whole will then vote on the candidates for endorsement by the Northbrook Caucus.
The proposed slate will be presented on November 15, 2020 at a Town Hall meeting open to all eligible Northbrook residents. All slated candidates and any non-slated candidates who are nominated from the floor will have the opportunity to speak. Attendees will vote on whether to accept the Caucus’s endorsed slate of candidates and a formal endorsement by the Northbrook Caucus will be announced.
The Northbrook Caucus process and its endorsements do not constitute the final outcome of the municipal elections. Candidates endorsed by the Caucus at the Town Hall will run for election on April 6, 2021.
If you’re interested in running for municipal office and and would like consideration for Caucus endorsement, please fill out an application and return it by October 5, 2020.
More information about how to join the virtual meeting of the Committee of the Whole (11/8/20) and the Town Hall meeting (11/15/20) and the time will be announced closer to the event.
