Northbrook Digs Out From Heaviest Snowfall In North Suburbs
More than 8 inches of snow has fallen in Northbrook since Thursday evening.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Public works crews across Northbrook have been working for nearly a full day to keep roads clear, and residents appear to be heeding the advice of authorities to stay off the street. Closures of many area schools Friday helped reduce the number of vehicles on the road as well. Parking restrictions are now in effect in Northbrook, so make sure you don't end up ticketed or towed.
After 2 inches of snowfall, parking is banned on all streets in Northbrook until plowing operations have been completed. Sidewalk plowing near schools and the downtown business district will get underway when practical.
Northbrook reported 8.4 inches of snow before noon on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Village officials also reminded the public not to plow or shovel snow accumulated on your driveway, sidewalk or parking lot into a public street or right-of-way. Residents were also asked to clear snow out from around fire hydrants in your neighborhood, as any delay could be costly in an emergency.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the Village of Northbrook sent out 15 plow trucks to work on main roads followed by seven pickup trucks with attached plows sent out in the early morning hours, staff told the Northbrook Star. Police were "a little bit busier" than normal and called to several accidents, but there were no series incidents.
