Northbrook Library Ending Annual Juried Art Shows
After a 13-year run, the final show is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.
After thirteen years of annual juried art shows, the Northbrook Public Library will host its final exhibition this month.
The theme for this year’s show, set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, is Flights of Fancy: Unexpected Works of Whimsy.
Library officials opted to end the annual event because they said “there wasn’t much in the way of local reward,” according to an article in the Chicago Tribune.

The art shows drew contestants nationwide and even outside of the country.
Accepted works for the final show will be on display at the library, located at 1201 Cedar Lane, from Oct. 9 to Nov. 20. A $2,000 purchase prize will be awarded to the winning artist, and the winning piece will be permanently on display at the Library. Other cash awards are also available.
