Northbrook's Kipnis Added To Cubs' 40-Man MLB Roster
The Glenbrook North graduate is expected to platoon in the infield, get some at-bats at designated hitter in the 60-game shortened season

CHICAGO — During a professional baseball career that dates back to 2011, Northbrook native Jason Kipnis has had plenty of success in Major League Baseball, including two All-Star Game appearances (2013, 2015) with the Cleveland Indians. The Glenbrook North graduate will now officially have a chance to play for the team he grew up rooting for after the Chicago Cubs announced Friday he has been added to the 40-man roster for the upcoming season.
The Cubs selected his contract from Triple-A Iowa. The buzz around the league is that Kipnis, 33, will platoon at second base and find plenty opportunities at designated hitter, the latter of which has been added to the National League a shortened 60-game season that gets underway next week.
