Number of Graffiti Incidents Reported Around Town: Blotter
Police on routine patrols found graffiti in various places: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUPPLEMENT TO THEFT
Miguel E. Almeralla, 28, of the 3700 block of W 75th Place, Chicago, is accused of one felony charge of possession of a stolen item, and was arrested at 6 p.m. March 10 in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. He is due in court on March 17.

- A customer reported at 5:21 p.m. March 4 that they noticed their wallet was missing from their unzipped backpack after departing Home Goods, 800 block of Willow Road.
- A resident called police at 3:15 p.m. March 10 to report someone removed four signs from the corner without permission.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A person called police at 10:31 a.m. March 5 to report that they received correspondence from the Illinois Department of Employment Security that their information was used to file for benefits that they did not file for.
- A person reported at 10:19 a.m. March 5 that they were advised by the Illinois Department of Human Services that someone had been using a family member’s information without permission since 2019 to receive benefits.
- Police received two calls on March 11 from complainants who received correspondence from the Illinois Department of Employment Security that their information was used to file for unemployment benefits that they did not file for.
UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD
- A Happ Road resident called police to report that someone obtained their credit card information and used it to make purchases between Nov. 27 and Dec. 2020 at various locations.
- A Castilian Circle resident reported on March 4 that they were notified of a delivery to their residence for an item that they did not purchase. Complainant called their credit card company and learned of several other unauthorized purchases had been made.
COMPUTER FRAUD
A Crimson Court resident called police at 9:48 p.m. March 6 to report that they began receiving pop-up ads on their computer from Apple and Microsoft stating that they should contact someone. Complainant states that they did make contact with person who claimed to represent Microsoft security. The person instructed the complainant to withdraw funds from their bank account and pay for services with Microsoft gift cards, and the complainant did so. After completing the transaction, the complainant contacted their bank and learned that this was a scam.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A person called police at 7:32 p.m. March 8 to report that two unknown people attempted to enter Reliance Plumbing, 1800 block of Techny Road, an enclosed trailer and a work van. No entry was made to either the building or the trailer. A door window was broken on the work van, but nothing appeared to be missing.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident of the 1100 block of Blackthorn Lane reported at 1:04 p.m. March 8 that someone broke a rock speaker that was located on the front porch of the residence.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
- An officer on routine patrol between March 11-15 saw that someone had placed graffiti on multiple street signs, light poles, guard rails and park signs on Grant and Lee roads.
- An officer on patrol found new graffiti on a wall at 9:42 a.m. March 11 at Techny Prairie Park, 1700 block of Techny Road.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
- A person at Walgreens, 1000 block of Waukegan Road, reported at 7:51 p.m. March 9 that they believed that a retail theft had just occurred. The complainant a woman was in the facial product aisle for a period of time and then quickly exited the store to a parked vehicle. The complainant said that the store's security alarms activated when the woman left the store. It was unknown what items were taken.
- A Pebble Beach Road resident called police at 10:12 a.m. March 11 to report that they believe that their personal information had been compromised. The complainant stated that their information had been used to open new credit accounts without their approval, and also that fraudulent health insurance claims had been filed using their information
