Over the past two years, a crew of auto burglars has been very active in the Midwest, including the North Shore, according to a Northbrook police press release.
The crew, nicknamed the 'Felony Lane Gang,' break car windows to steal purses and other valuable items. They specifically target cars in school, daycare center, golf course, park and exercise facility parkings lots.
Northbrook police suspect this group of breaking into cars in Northbrook, as well as numerous other suburbs. Police strongly urge residents to take valuables from your car or lock them in the trunk, even If you will only be away from the car for a few minutes.
Often, they use checks and/or IDs from the purses to withdraw funds from the bank accounts of the victims.
They have been active in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin.
