Dennis Byrne Lectures on the War of 1812
Chicago Tribune contributing columnist and Northbrook resident Dennis Byrne will talk about what may have may have been America’s worst and most nearly ruinous war, as described in his historical novel, Madness: The War of 1812. The free lecture will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Rd. in Northfield.

Mystery and Horror in the Golden Age of Radio
Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Northbrook Public Library.
Join "Those Were the Days" host Steve Darnall for an evening of scary sounds from some of radio's best known mystery and horror programs, and learn how the "Theater of the Mind" could use music, voices, and sounds to create indelible and often frightening mental images.
