Taxi Passenger Tries to Break Window and Refuses to Pay: Police

Two leather vests were also stolen from a Northbrook store.

Cab fare dispute

Officers responded to a call at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 1 about an intoxicated subject in a cab who refused to pay. The cab driver reported that the fare was attempting to break out a window of the cab. Responding officers located the taxi at Waukegan and Shermer roads. The passenger, Martin R. Rivera-Rodriguez, 52, of the 200 block of Nora in Glenview, who was extremely intoxicated, was arrested on charges of theft of service and resisting arrest, released on $1,500 bond and given an Aug. 21 court date.

Leather vest theft

An employee of a store in the 4100 block of Dundee Road said that on July 31, a male and female walked into the shop and took two leather vests valued at $200 and left without paying.

Theft

A woman said she left her wallet in the dressing room while shopping in the 100 block of Skokie Highway Aug. 2. When she returned to the store later in the day the wallet was still there but $200 was missing.

Burglary

Someone entered a rear fenced-in lot in the 500 block of Anthony Lane overnight July 31 by cutting the chain link fence. A semi-trailer parked near the warehouse had copper stolen. A storage container located on the property was pried open but it did not appear anything was missing.

Tires slashed

Someone slashed all four tires of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 1200 block of Voltz Court overnight July 31. The cost to replace the four tires is approximately $1,200.

Driving without a valid license

Diego Gutierrez-Martinez, 26, of the 100 block of Park Street in Bensenville, was involved in an auto accident in the 1000 block of Pfingsten Road at 4:30 Aug. 1 and was found to be driving without a valid driver’s license. He has an Aug. 29 court date.
