Townhouses Could Be Coming to Shermer Road

A plan for a number of townhouses to take up much of the area that stretches from Waukegan Road to Church Street on Shermer Road has been submitted to Northbrook trustees, the Northbrook Star reports.

Jacobs Homes plans to build 54 townhouses on four acres of property it now controls, and another 28 if the Deerfield-based building company is able to acquire four additional, slightly smaller, lots it seeks.

Once plans are developed more, Jacobs Homes will request a zoning change from C-1 to a special “planned development” status.

Village President Sandy Frum, speaking the day after the plans were made public at a meeting at a Northbrook Chamber of Commerce event, said this will help the village attain its goal of having a higher residential density in the downtown area to boost business.
