Utility Conflict Delays Shermer Road Bridge Project
Construction on the bridge is now due to begin in August after engineers figure out how to relocate utility lines.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Construction on the Shermer Road Bridge has been delayed until mid-August, village officials announced Friday. The project had been due to get underway Monday and finish in June, but utility company representatives concluded earlier this week they would not be able to temporarily relocate their lines.
According to an update posted by the city, the conflict requires coming up with a new solution.
That's expected to take five or six months to complete before work on the bridge can begin.

Then, the bridge will need to be closed for about three months to complete the work, which involves removing and replacing the bridge's deck and concrete beams.
About 80 percent of the cost of the project is being picked by a $1.06 million grant, the village said.
